NECHL Remembers Gregory Huether (1987-2009)

Cortland State's hockey team was shocked this weekend as they heard news that their teammate, Greg Huether, who was planning on joining the team after his injury healed in the Spring, passed away this past Saturday and is no longer with us.

Greg, who was a main asset to this hockey team the past four years and was again this upcoming semester, helped this team in any way possible from his leadership, his outstanding play and his friendship with his teammates and coaches.

Greg has posted up two 30+ point seasons and a 20+ point season this past year.  His most memorable moments range from recording hat tricks against Oswego last year to get revenge on the loss they handed to him a few months before, and also the hat trick he recorded last year against nationally ranked at the time, Rutgers University.

His friendship, leadership, care and of course his incredibly fast slap shot will be truly missed by his teammates along with his coaches he has played for these past four years.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Huether family and anyone who was affected by this happening.  We will always remember Greg, rest in peace.
